With the increasing complexity of vehicle wiring and control circuits it has never been more important to have your towing electrical wiring professionally installed.
Modern car lighting systems are now very complex, with most cars monitoring the lighting circuits in one form or another. Some car’s lights even adapt different roles when circumstances change i.e. a side light may automatically become a brake light if a brake light fails, or the hazard warning light flashes automatically when braking hard.
If the incorrect trailer lighting system is fitted to some of these vehicles it can interfere with the control modules – causing varying levels of faults to occur, in some cases making the vehicle parts of the electrical system fail. The cost of replacement parts can be a lot more expensive than if the correct system had been installed initially.
A professionally fitted towbar wiring kit connects the electrics and lights on your car to the lighting board on your trailer, caravan or bike rack inline with manufacturer specifications.
